SEPTEMBER 15. BE THERE.
KOTEK: DECLARE A CLIMATE EMERGENCY.
WE STRIKE ON SEPTEMBER 15 BECAUSE....
On September 15, 2023, we are striking with cities around the state to demand that Governor Tina Kotek combat the climate crisis and set a national precedent. We demand that Governor Kotek declare a state of climate emergency, which will allow our state government to act swiftly on the interrelated issues which fall under the umbrella of environmental justice, especially the sustainable housing crisis. Declaring a climate emergency would also make Oregon the second state to do so, after Hawaii. And we haven't forgotten about the CEI Hub. On September 15th we will also demand that the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality deny Zenith Energy their Air Contaminant Discharge Permit, as Zenith's operations negatively impact the greater Portland Metro Area and put hundreds of thousands of Portland residents at risk. Join us at Portland City Hall at 11am to hold our elected officials and government bodies accountable.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Climate change impacts everyone, regardless of class, race, age, or gender. The fight for environmental justice is an intersectional, and we must do everything we can to support our houseless neighbors. We must pressure our elected officials to take bold action and protect all people of Oregon
